Meet Luis Mak, a warm-hearted educator born and raised in Venezuela. His personal life reflects a blend of cultural roots and creative pursuits—he speaks seven languages, plays guitar, bass, and drums, and volunteers as a Sunday School teacher for children at church. With a deep passion for multilingual acquisition and teaching linguistics, he hopes to pursue further studies in this area to better support young learners.
Luis has a strong passion for lifelong learning, which has guided him through multiple degrees and roles in the education sector. He earned a double Bachelor’s from the University of Calgary, a PGDE in Special Education from the University of Hong Kong, and an MFA in Creative Writing from the City University of Hong Kong. A turning point happened when as a husband and a father of one, he decided to pursuit his dreams to study at Harvard, completing a Master’s in Educational Leadership from Harvard University, with a focus on data-driven organisational management. Thanks to his family’s support, he was able to learn from the best professors and meet people that truly inspired him to be the best version of himself. He lives as an example to his students that anything is possible as long as we work for it. Lastly, his career includes positions such as head of foreign languages at a secondary school and a special education teacher, both centred on supporting diverse learners and shaping young minds.
