Our Schools

Norwegian International School

In 1982, the Norwegian School was established by the Norwegian Mission Society and was located on Cox Road in Tsim Sha Tsui. The school repositioned itself as an international school in 1994, when it was relocated to Central Tai Po. The School was renamed the Norwegian International School (NIS) and switched to using English language as the medium of teaching. In 2008, the NIS Primary School moved to its current location on Kam Shan Road, while the Kindergarten stayed at the original Central Tai Po location. The school currently has over 200 students across both campuses; providing small class sizes and big learning initiatives for age groups 5 years 8 months – 11 years plus. NIS is one of a number of schools in Hong Kong using the International Primary Curriculum (IPC), an inquiry based primary school curriculum. The IPC was launched in 2000 and is now being used implemented in over 1600 school across 92 countries. Its focus is on a combination of academic, personal, and international learning combined with innovative, engaging and practical learning pathways. Our NIS staff of internationally and locally trained teachers in both the kindergarten and primary school, emphasise whole-child education founded in biblical principles, with a strong community spirit. The NIS schools are involved in many activities within our communities. Utilizing the strength of NIS’ Parents’ Association, that focus on community has grown to be a pillar of our school.
