Principal’s Message Nov 11, 15

How good and pleasant it is when brothers live together in unity! Psalm 133:1

In this week’s newsletter I want to say a big thank you to everyone who helped with or-ganising the NIS Open Day. This year’s Open Day was by far the most successful I have been involved in at NIS and the credit for this needs to go to all the fantastic people who cooperated to make the day run so well.
The Open Day is a joint effort between parents and the school. The Parent Association put Car-man Chan in charge of organising parents to help at the fair and in organising the parent run activities. She did a fantastic job and we had around 30 parents who volunteered to help. These parents ran stalls, cooked food, and made sure activities were run well. A big thank you to all these parents who donated their time and effort to make the fair a success. Some of these parents also donated food and goods for the event as well. The balloon bender and the magician were also both paid for by a generous parent.

David, our PA Chairperson, also did a great job in organising the day, ensuring that things were run well and that Carman was given all the support she needed. David also organised for the police and fire department to attend the day (although unfortunately the fire department brought a truck that was too big to fit thought the school gate).

From the school’s side, all of the staff were involved in preparing for the day and in helping with activities and tours. Miss Ivy did a wonderful job of liaising with the parents and ensuring that everything was pre-pared for the day. Miss Ivy has been helping run the fair for 8 years now so her wealth of experience is highly valued.

Finally I want to thank everyone who turned up to support the Open Day. It was great to see so many people from our school community there, as well as a lot of people who are considering joining our school. One of NIS’s great strength is the strong community that we have and I hope that everyone had a fantastic time on Saturday.
